If I Can Stay Angry
If I can stay angry - my love will be concealed
I can harden my heart; my feelings won’t be revealed.
If I can stay angry - it’s easy to be extreme,
And say hurtful things that I really don’t mean.
If I can stay angry - I can kick you out
Then lie on the bed, immersed in my doubts
If I can stay angry - I can show I don’t care
Screaming and shouting, swearing down the stairs
If I can stay angry - I can make you cry
But deep down I’m hurting and wanting to die
If I can stay angry - I can put you down
But really I’m proud of you and need you around
But I can’t stay angry - because my love overtakes,
You will always be my partner, whatever the mistakes
I can’t stay angry - because I need to feel
That I’m part of your life, a cog in your wheel.
I can’t stay angry - because I care about you too much
Always here to support you with a loving touch.
