Let's Hope Not Much Depends On

Anyone know whats happening with The Red Wheelbarrow? I haven't heard back about some poems I submitted some time ago, and while I can just about get my head round the notion they might, as usual, have been rejected, I am as far as I recall a subscriber, and haven't seen a copy for some time either. Or did I just buy a single issue? Sigh. Must keep better records.

Tony, back in March at StAnza, I met the new chief editor and he was looking forward to taking over. I sent in some poems. I know others who did the same and they haven't had a reply either, so you're not alone.

There's certainly been no new issue since the Oceans one back in February. The Travel themed issue, due in May, hasn't yet materialised. It's not unknown for the magazine to appear a month or so late, but usually the RW team are good at responding to submissions within 4-6 weeks or so.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'll try to find out and get back to you.

Yes, same problem here, Tony. The Oceans issue was the last one I saw.

It's good to know it's not just me, but a shame if they are floundering.

I emailed the team a while back as I'd submitted poems to the 'Foreign Affairs' issue (originally due in May) too, and I think they said that the plan is for it to come out in October or maybe later. After all, the magazine is largely edited by the students on the creative writing course at SA, so things will be in limbo until at least when term starts. But poems have been received, as I understand it. Hope that helps.

Thanks Ben. The summer holidays delay makes sense, but I'd discounted it because of the schedule on their website.
